This Sovereign is dated 2022 as it was struck to memorialise the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A further Sovereign bullion coin range will launch in 2023.
The obverse of the inaugural coinage representation of King Charles III features a left-facing portrait skillfully crafted by British sculptor Martin Jennings. The encircling legend reads: "CHARLES II · DEI · GRA · REX · FID · DEF".
The reverse was created by Jody Clark and reflects the decorative royal arms design with heraldic supporters - English lion and Scottish unicorn - on either side. "DIEU ET MON DROIT" to scroll below with the date "2022".
