The obverse of the coin presents a beautiful elephant standing tall. The details including the large trunk and the tusks are amazing and the beast looks like it is coming towards us, walking through the bush. Beneath the design, in the circle, can be found the inscriptions "SOUTH AFRICA", "BIG FIVE 2022" and the South African coat of arms.
The reverse is even more interesting and shows the two halves of an elephant's head. If you place two of these coins next to each other, you will get a full close-up portrait of one elephant. And if you place several of these coins next to each other, a full herd of them will appear but you would have to buy quite a few of these coins to see this sight. In the center of the coin are presented the denomination Fifty Rand, the weight Ioz and the fineness “Au 999.9”.
