The Kangaroo is one of the most popular representatives of the Australian animal kingdom and one of the most famous landmarks of the Australian continent. This gold coin was minted by the Perth Mint from a 1/4 ounce 99.99% pure gold in proof quality.
The obverse shows a new kangaroo motif every year. In 2023 it is a kangaroo surrounded by various plant species, including a eucalyptus tree and a grass tree. Next to the motif, the year of mintage "2023", the fineness "9999 GOLD" and the denomination "1/4 oz" are embossed. Clearly legible on the left side of the coin is the "P" for the Perth Mint.
The reverse of the Kangaroo gold coin shows in all denominations a portrait of the British Queen Elizabeth II, after a design by Jody Clark, as well as her initials "JC". In addition to the words "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA", the corresponding face value of the gold coin is also shown. On the Kangaroo Gold 2023, the years of her reign - 1952 to 2022 - have been added.
