The Yale of Beaufort is the second coin release of the new Royal Tudor Beasts series from the prestigious Royal Mint. The British Tudor Beasts series is inspired by the stone sculptures located on the Moat Bridge of the Hampton Court Palace. The Yale of Beaufort is a mythical beast with goat or antelope characteristics, one of the most distinctive beasts. According to the legend, the horns of the mythical Yale can turn independently, and white and gold spots cover the creature.
On the front you can see the Yale of Beaufort. The Yale is seen as a symbol of defense and was given to Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII. The image on the coin is full of beautiful details and a chainmail animation is used in the background, making counterfeiting of these coins more difficult. All around you will see the inscriptions YALE OF BEAUFORT - the name of the coin, 1oz FINE PLATINUM 999.5 - the weight and purity of the coin and 2023 - the year of issue.
On the reverse of the coin you can see the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. This effigy is shown in front of a chainmail animation background surrounded by the inscriptions JC - the initials of the designer Jody Clark, 100 POUNDS - the face value of the coin, ELIZABETH II - the name of the Queen and DG REG FD - the latin abbreviation for 'by God, Queen'.
