This beautiful 2022 one ounce platinum coin featuring the White Greyhound of Richmond is the tenth coin in the popular "Queen's Beasts" series from The Royal Mint. These coins are based on the ten statues which stood guard outside Westminster Abbey for the Queen's Coronation in 1953. They were originally sculpted by J.Woodford RA in 1953 and represent the various houses in the Queen's ancestry.

The White Greyhound comes to the Queen as the badge of John of Gaunt, the Duke of Lancaster and Earl of Richmond, who was the father of Henry IV. It represents honour and has associations with the north of England and with the Celtic Britons. As in the original statue, the greyhound bears a shield with the Tudor Rose ensigned by a Royal Crown.

The 2022 White Greyhound 1oz platinum coin contains exactly one troy ounce of pure 9995 platinum, and has a face value of £100.

The reverse side features a white greyhound positioned behind the emblem of the English noble family "Richmond." Additionally, the following inscription can be found on the obverse side of the coin: "White Greyhound of Richmond 1 oz FINE PLATINUM 999.5 2022." The initials "JC" represent the artist Jody Clark, who designed the motif.

On the obverse side, the portrait of the British Queen Elizabeth II is depicted, which was also created by the coin designer Jody Clark. Imprinted on the coin's edge is the face value "100 POUNDS," the name of the British Queen "ELIZABETH II," and the letters "D.G.REG.F.D." These stand for the Latin inscription "Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensor." Translated, this inscription means: "By the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith."
