This gold coin has been minted by the United States Mint since 1986 and has become very popular with investors over the years. In 2021, the popular bullion coin appeared with a new value side for the first time since its initial issue. The motif on the new value side was designed by artist, graphic designer and illustrator Jennie Norris.
The obverse depicts the head of a bald eagle, which is designed with an exceptionally high level of detail. Above the coin is the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Below this is the motto of the USA "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The words "IN GOD WE TRUST" can also be read below this lettering. The face value "10 DOLLARS", the denomination "1/4 OZ." and the metal "FINE GOLD" are stated below the coin.
On the reverse of the American Eagle 1/4 oz gold coin, Lady Liberty is depicted holding an olive branch in her left hand and a torch in her right hand. The year of minting can be seen to the right of the goddess of liberty, LIBERTY is written above the coin and there are small stars around the edge of the coin.
Today, the Eagle is a classic alongside the Vienna Philharmonic, Maple Leaf and Krugerrand. The sale of the Gold Eagle runs without problems at most dealers and banks, precisely because of its high degree of popularity.
